Swimming lessons are a great start for Sunday!
MoovSwim conducted a children swimming lesson for three lovely girls, J, JQ and R on Sunday morning. The girls are kindergarten classmates, and they have come to form a class together! The girls are turning 5 this year, just about the age to start swimming lessons independently and learn swimming strokes.
It has been a month since they began classes with MoovSwim, and the girls are progressing very well! They did not have any formal swimming lessons prior to this, and thus required some time to build water confidence and familiarisation. Over the past four lessons, the children have been learning to gain confidence by placing their faces in the water. Learning to have their faces exposed to water and yet be comfortable enough to not brush the water off their faces immediately is a prelude to learning strokes. Previously, the girls were a bit apprehensive and uncomfortable with water on their faces. As the lessons progressed, the girls are becoming more comfortable, and this is a good start!
The girls went on to practise their kicking with their arms outstretched. This is to strengthen the core muscles of the children. Strong core muscles are a prerequisite to better body control, and this will enable the children to learn strokes more effectively. The girls carried on to learn pushing off the walls, and they had personalized attention from coach thereafter. The noodles assist in keeping the girls’ bodies horizontal.
Looking forward to having another great children swimming lesson with them!
